Donna (Gillies) Bask

Donna Joan Gillies was born on Aug. 5, 1930, and the world was changed forever.
  Donna, known affectionately as Joan to her friends and family and “Grammy” to her five grandchildren, changed the world with her smile, her positive attitude, her playfulness, her compassion and her innocence. Joan passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.

Shirley Judson

Shirley Judson passed away on Oct. 22, 2008, in Lynden.
  Shirley was born on Jan. 12, 1932, in Gig Harbor, Wash., and was a daughter of Alvin E. and Anne Ahlberg.
  She was preceded in death by her brother, Al Ahlberg, and her loving husband, Richard W. Judson, originally of Lynden.

David Gienger

David Harold Gienger passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Nov. 13, 2008.
  He is survived by his loving wife, Linell, of 56 years; son Dale Gienger of Bellingham; daughter Terri Call (Eric) of Blaine; daughter Pam Aarons (Todd) of Bellingham; and grandchildren Tawnya Heredia, Melissa Call, Courtney Call, Terry Horat and Taylour Aarons and eight great-grandchildren.

Myrtle White

Myrtle Margaret White, of Blaine, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the age of 91.
  “Grandma” was a caring, giving, creative and unique individual. She had a way of making everyone feel as though they were the special one.

R. James Groh

  R. James Groh was born in Bellingham on Oct. 9, 1961, and passed away at his Nooksack home on Sept. 19, 2008.
  James was a 1980 graduate of Nooksack Valley High School. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. James enjoyed writing poetry and was a musician. He was a member of both the Everson and Lynden Friends of the Library.
  He is survived by his mother, Thelma Groh, of Lynden.

Henry Vaniman

  Henry H. “Herb” Vaniman passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital.
  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Moles-Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel.
  Arrangements are by Moles-Greenacres Funeral Home & Memorial Park.

Gerald Polinder

Gerald John Polinder, age 83, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008.
  He was born on July 2, 1925, to Henry and Minnie (Jager) Polinder in Vancouver, B.C. At age 5, he and his family came to the United States and settled in the Lynden area. Following high school, Gerald served in the United States Navy during World War II and later in life took an interest in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On June 24, 1958, Gerald married Shirley Tjoelker in Lynden. He was a long-time member of Second Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an elder and deacon and personally ministered to prisoners, corresponding with them through the Crossroads Program. Baseball was a favorite sport and while pitching for the Northwest Washington fastpitch team, he became known as “The Busher.” A businessman, Gerald was co-owner, along with his father and brother-in-law, of Ferndale Grain Company for many years. He was a faithful volunteer at the Hope Office in Lynden and enjoyed crossword puzzles as a favorite pastime.

Henry Vaniman

Henry H. “Herb” Vaniman passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family. Herb was just four days short of reaching his 80th birthday.
  Herb was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in Bellingham. His parents were Anne and Joe Nevins, and George and Mayme Vaniman of Bellingham. Herb was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County who served in the Marine Corps upon graduating from Bellingham High School in 1946. After getting out of the Marine Corps, he married Bonnie Hinote on March 25, 1949.

Robert Molony

Robert L. (Bob) Molony passed away on Friday night, Nov. 7, 2008, from the effects of cancer. His loving family and friends were at this side when he passed away at his home.
  His memorial will be held at his home on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2068 Central Rd., Everson (corner of Everson-Goshen and Central roads).

Fabian Seelbach

  Fabian “Tater” Seelbach, of Waggoner, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, while visiting his family in Lynden. He was 87 years old.
  Tater will be greatly missed by his daughters, Gloria Gietl and Geri (Roger) Adams; and grandchildren Hannah, Hallie, Grace, Abby and Gabe.
